what it is used for
The Mercer Assessment Platform is an online examination system to conduct seamless virtual exams and assessments, to offer a seamless, end-to-end assessment experience by integrating various evaluation methods, such as cognitive tests, behavioral assessments, simulations, and video interviews, just to name a few.
It is core product in a ever-expanding Mercer Assessment Suite.
why the redesign needed
Entire assessment suite was to be re-created to achieve essential product goals and enable assessments of tomorrow to be conducted in a more cohesive and productive way.
due to sub-optimal experience it offers and business cruciality of the Assessment platform, it became the first product in assessment suite to be redesigned for next generation.
- lack of system feedback 
 Candidates struggle to understand system status due to insufficient real-time updates on progress, data checks, and response saving.
- inconsistent navigation & interface standards 
 Button placements and interaction flows vary across sections, making navigation unintuitive.
- visual & accessibility issues 
 color contrast issues for main interaction elements, visual inconsistencies and immense readability issues.
- Mobile Usability & Performance Issues - The platform struggles with performance on smaller screens, including slow load times and poor touch interaction design.

research process
these are the processes i've conducted throughout the research journey
- heuristic evaluation 
 to get an expert opinion and get identify pain-points & usability issues in current assessment journey.
- quantitative analysis 
 to validate usability issues with quantitative feedback to find common themes.
- cognitive walkthrough 
 to see the pain-points in the current assessment journey for first-timer candidates.
- user interviews 
 to validate the issues with qualitative analysis of different user groups.
- empathy mapping 
 to identify and collect psychological data of the user's emotion in assessment journey.

 grouping & consolidating the feedbacks and the common issues throughout the research.

after years of working through and discussions with technology and quality team, we created a new assessment journey that resonated in the modern assessments and solves the highlighted pain-points.

IMPACT
early feedback
Candidate who had the pleasure of experiencing the platform before the official launch shared their feedbacks and based on the feedback we validated, and made changes for better experience — like Walkthrough for questions.
Similar treatment was done to any client requests that came to us after experiencing the new assessment platform.
with the pilot program of 547 students using A/B TESTING, FOLLOWING METRICS WERE DERIVED BASED ON THEIR EXPERIENCE
- ~96% candidates of Group 1 were able to start, register and complete the assessment unaided as compared to Group 2. (increase of ~17%) 
- ~54% reduction of candidate's overall time in non-assessment sections (onboarding, assessment end), ensuring candidate's maximum time is spent on main assessment. 
- 87.5% CSAT score for the new platform (as compared to 51.3% for old) 
accessibility certifications
We also received WCAG2.1 compliance & ADA accessibility certifications by external auditors.
